Why Vancouver is a Great Place to Study Broadcasting
Vancouver is an excellent city to head towards for a broadcasting education and/or a career in electronic media. The city of Vancouver and its surrounding areas are growing rapidly. While not a large city in and of itself, the population in the city's metropolitan area numbers well more than two million people, causing demand for broadcasting to be very strong and growing. There are 27 radio stations in the Vancouver area, along with seven television stations, including affiliates of CBC, CTV, and SRC. Film and television production is also a huge industry in Vancouver; it is the third-largest film production center in North America. So production-inclined broadcasting students should be quite pleased at what the city has to offer as well. For sports broadcasting interests, Vancouver is home to the Canucks and Giants professional hockey teams, Lions football team, Canadians baseball team, and Whitecaps soccer team. Vancouver has something for every kind of broadcasting student.
