Vancouver can thank its performing arts programs for a lot of this growth. There are such schools as Capilano College's Fine and Applied Arts department, which offers two separate Performance Diplomas, and a degree in Technical Theatre, not to mention studies in Jazz Studies and multiple other music degrees. Perhaps the best-known in Vancouver is the Langara College Theatre Arts School, with its highlight, the Studio 58, the only theatre conservatory training program in all Western Canada. A third choice, but not necessarily in that order, is the University of British Columbia's Theatre school, which also allows you to study within its film and creative writing programs at the same time or its School of Music.
Another good sign for Vancouver performing arts is the steady job growth expected through 2013. The cultural scene for the arts in general should grow by 1.4%, with professional occupations in art and culture rising by about 1.2%. The technical side of performing arts should see job growth at 1.5%.

Why Vancouver is a Great Place to Study Performing Arts
You may know people who head up to Vancouver, British Columbia, for the skiing. Or maybe they ventured in the summer for some ocean kayaking and a hike into the mountains. But have you ever known someone to travel north for the theatre? Maybe not, but you probably soon will begin to. With 32 local theatres, and 21 other performing arts venues, Vancouver is a dot on the performing arts map that's getting bigger and bigger.
